ZINC FOOTBALL ACADEMY FINISH THIRD IN RAJASTHAN MEN’S LEAGUE; STAY UNDEFEATED IN LAST 12 MATCHES

Udaipur : The senior team of Zinc Football Academy, mostly comprising under-20 players, performed creditably to ensure a commendable top-three finish in the Rajasthan Men’s League A-Division 2023-24. With 11 wins and 3 draws in 16 matches, played in a home-and-away format, Hindustan Zinc’s Academy scored an incredible 61 goals throughout the tournament which was the highest among all the teams in the league.

Organised by Rajasthan Football Association, the state league saw the participation of nine best teams in Rajasthan – FC Brothers United, Royal FC Jaipur, Sunrise FC Sirohi, ASL FC, Jaipur Elite FC, Jaipur Futsal FC, Aviva Sports Foundation, Champion Maker FC, along with Zinc Football Academy.

Although Zinc Football Academy carried the youngest squad in the league, they remained unfazed by the age difference, culminating in an impressive 12-match unbeaten run to conclude the league. The Academy’s 18-year-old player Subhash Damor scored 16 goals in 15 starts, finishing as the league’s top scorer. Subhash, who joined Zinc Football Academy in 2018, also won the Emerging Player of the League award.

Zinc Football Academy ended their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Aviva Sports Foundation, finishing the campaign with 36 points. They were also undefeated at their home ground, Zawar Stadium, with six wins and two draws in eight home matches.

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Dilip Singh Shekhawat, Secretary, Rajasthan Football Association said: “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Zinc Football Academy for their hard-fought campaign in the Rajasthan Men's League 2023-24. Finishing third with the youngest squad in the league is a testament to their commitment to nurturing young talent. I would also like to specially congratulate ZFA player Subhash Damor for his outstanding achievements as the top scorer and Emerging Player of the Season. I am confident that he has a bright future ahead in Indian football. The efforts of Zinc Football Academy and players like Subhash are pivotal in driving the growth and success of football in Rajasthan and India.” Zinc Football Academy, which has The Football Link as the strategy and implementation partner of the programme, previously won the Rajasthan Men’s League in 2021.
