Dr. Anuj Bhatnagar, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department, gave a detailed presentation on GST 2 reforms. He highlighted that under “India Transforming: Next Generation Reforms”, the new GST framework is built on seven major pillars:

Simplification based on GST’s success: Making tax rates easier and protecting consumer interest.

Widening taxpayer base: Beneficial for entrepreneurs.

Technological ease: Full-scale digital compliance and e-invoicing.

Establishment of GST Appellate Tribunal: Functioning from December 2025.

Consumer first: Zero percent GST on essential commodities.

Boost to economy: Reduction in tax rates expected to raise demand by 10–20% and GDP growth by 2–3%.

No revenue loss to states: Special provisions to safeguard state GST revenues.

Joint Commissioner Mr. Hemant Chouhan added that the reduction in GST rates will naturally stimulate demand. GST has been reduced on nearly 400 items, 99% of which are daily-use products.
