Udaipur. A divisional-level workshop was organized at the RNT auditorium under the auspices of the Mahatma Gandhi Jeevan Darshan Committee, Udaipur. The program was graced by the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and senior Gandhian leader Ashok Gehlot, who directly interacted with district, sub-division, and block-level convenors and co-convenors, calling upon them to spread Gandhi’s ideals to every section of society.

The event began with Gehlot offering a garland of spun thread and lighting a lamp before the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. He was welcomed by District Convenor Pankaj Kumar Sharma and fellow convenors with a Gandhi cap, a tri-colored spun-thread garland, and an uprana. A symbolic charkha was also presented to him.

In his address, Gehlot emphasized the increasing relevance of Gandhi’s philosophy in today’s time. He stated, “The path of truth, non-violence, and satyagraha shown by Gandhi Ji remains the only solution to the challenges of our times. Growing violence, intolerance, and extremism in society can only be countered through Gandhi Darshan.”

He appealed to the convenors and co-convenors to connect with youth, women, farmers, and students in their respective areas, encouraging them to understand that following Gandhi’s path is true service to the nation. He further noted that the workshops of the Gandhi Jeevan Darshan Committee must not remain limited to discussions but should translate into actionable efforts to build harmony, cooperation, and mutual respect—pillars essential for development.

Gehlot reiterated that Gandhi’s life and struggles will always guide future generations. “Just as Gandhi Ji achieved independence through truth and non-violence, we now need to strive for freedom from social evils, poverty, unemployment, and discrimination. This is a collective responsibility,” he said.

On the occasion, District Convenor Pankaj Kumar Sharma presented a report of the committee’s activities, highlighting the creation of the Shanti evam Ahimsa Prakoshth (Peace and Non-Violence Cell) under Gehlot’s leadership, which successfully promoted state government initiatives down to the ward level while fostering communal harmony.

During the program, Gehlot honored families of martyrs, including Dharm Chand Nagori and Sushila Nagori (parents of martyr Abhinav Nagori), Zakiuddin (father of martyr Major Mustafa), and Durga Shankar Paliwal, a 1971 Indo-Pak war veteran, by presenting shawls and mementos.

The workshop was also addressed by Professor Satish Rai, National Coordinator, along with other district convenors. A vote of thanks was delivered by Tara Chand Meena, former District Collector and parliamentary candidate. The session was conducted by Vishnu Sharma Hiteshi, Editor-in-Chief of Pratyush.

The event was attended by former MLAs Surendra Singh Jhadawat and Ram Lal Meena, district convenors Akshay Tripathi, Narayan Singh Bhati, Dilip Nebhnani, Ramesh Chandra Pandya, Praveen Kumar Jain, Pradeep Sharma (Pratapgarh), co-convenors Sudhir Joshi, Mahesh Dhoot, Umesh Rawal, Bahadur Singh Charan, Mohit Bhawsar, Rajesh Choudhary, along with family members of martyrs and freedom fighters.
