Udaipur,Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker, Shri Vasudev Devnani, has strongly criticized the recent remarks made by Dr. Sunita Mishra, Vice Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, which have sparked a wave of controversy. In his statement, Shri Devnani described the Vice Chancellor’s comments as entirely inappropriate and unbecoming.

Expectation of Dignified Conduct from Academic Heads

The Speaker remarked that a person occupying the highest position in a prestigious academic institution like a university is expected to make factual, balanced, dignified, and thoughtful statements. However, the remarks made by the Vice Chancellor have deeply hurt public sentiments. He stressed that while representing the land of the great warrior Maharana Pratap, extending praise to Mughal rulers is tantamount to insulting those valiant heroes who sacrificed their lives in defense of self-respect and honor.

Against the Spirit of Higher Education

Shri Devnani further stated that such conduct does not conform to the dignity of higher education or the academic environment. He urged the Hon’ble Governor and the State Government to respect public sentiments and take appropriate action in this matter.

Warm Welcome in Udaipur

On Saturday evening, the Assembly Speaker arrived in Udaipur from Ajmer. At the Circuit House, he was warmly received by public representatives and administrative officials. Leaders of various organizations also extended a cordial welcome. On this occasion, Lakshmilal Ostwal, President of the Udaipur Tea Merchants Association, along with Secretary Rajeev Sethia and other members, submitted a memorandum to Shri Devnani. The memorandum appealed to the State Government to withdraw the Krishak Kalyan Tax imposed on tea.

Visit to Temples During Navratri

During his Udaipur visit, coinciding with the auspicious festival of Navratri, Shri Devnani also visited nine prominent temples of Goddess Durga in the city on Saturday. He performed prayers and sought blessings of the Mother Goddess, marking his devotion during the sacred festivities.
