Udaipur. Under the direction of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), the 6-day 69th National School Hockey Championship (Under-19 Boys) was inaugurated in a grand manner on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the M.B. College Sports Ground, Udaipur. The championship is being hosted for the first time in Udaipur at PM Shri Fateh Senior Secondary School, Surajpol.
The competition commenced with the singing of Vande Mataram. The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony, Tribal Area Development Minister Mr. Babulal Kharadi, offered prayers to Goddess Saraswati and took the salute of the marching teams. Following the flag hoisting and formal declaration of the championship open, Mr. Kharadi urged all players to maintain discipline, display true sportsmanship, and bring pride to their region and the nation through their performance.
The inauguration ceremony featured impressive cultural performances by students of Government Special Residential Girls School, Government Senior Secondary School Bhupalpura, and Jagdish Chowk Girls Senior Secondary School. NCC cadets presented a Guard of Honour to the dignitaries.

During the ceremony, a message sent by Education Minister Mr. Madan Dilawar was read out. In his message, the Education Minister stated that due to the state government’s continuous efforts in strengthening modern sports infrastructure, nurturing talent, and encouraging players, Rajasthan’s sportspersons are receiving strong platforms at the national level. He added that this championship would open new doors of achievement, recognition, and opportunities for the players.
District Education Officer (Secondary) Headquarters Dr. Lokesh Bharti informed that 28 teams from Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, DAV, Chhattisgarh, CBSE, Kerala, IPSC, Chandigarh, Delhi, Odisha, Vidya Bharati, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and other regions participated in the march past during the inauguration ceremony. Matches will be conducted as per schedule at four venues: M.B. College Ground, two grounds at B.N. College, and the international astroturf ground at Khel Gaon.
On this occasion, Deputy District Education Officer (Physical Education), Secondary Headquarters Mr. Lakshman Lal Salvi, who is retiring on January 31, was felicitated with a traditional turban and shawl by education department officials and physical education teachers.
