Udaipur: Reacting to the Modi government’s budget, Udaipur City District Congress President Fateh Singh Rathore stated that the general budget, as usual, is disappointing and pessimistic. According to him, it reflects that the Modi government lacks vision and political will for the country. The budget fails to provide solutions to the nation’s economic, social, or political challenges.
He highlighted several shortcomings:
•    No concrete plan for youth employment.
•    No relief for the poor and middle class struggling with inflation.
•    Ordinary citizens’ savings are decreasing, while promises are merely reiterated.
•    Cities branded as “Smart Cities” are unlivable, citing Indore as an example, where people are reportedly forced to drink contaminated water, yet the government continues to promote the Smart City scheme as a political slogan.
•    Cuts across multiple funds appear to be statistical manipulations.
•    Agriculture, rural development, urban development, health, and education budgets have been reduced, which he claimed would push the country backward.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Social Media Coordinator Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit commented that although Rajasthan voters were promised a double-engine government, the Centre has not provided any support to fuel the Rajasthan government’s engine. He noted:
•    Rajasthan, India’s largest state, received no mention in the budget speech, which is unfair to the state.
•    The poor, laborers, and informal sector workers have not received any significant relief announcements.
•    No steps were taken to control inflation or stabilize the falling rupee.
•    Growing economic inequality, surpassing even colonial-era levels, was ignored in the budget.
Dr. Rajpurohit summarized that the budget represents a tired and retired government, unwilling to spend even the funds allocated, and is not in favor of the poor or youth. He criticized the lack of measures to reduce inflation or generate employment, calling the budget a disappointing outcome for Rajasthan despite the double-engine claim and an overall disheartening budget for the country.
