Udaipur: The Udaipur Rural and City District Congress units have issued a statement criticizing the Rajasthan Government’s Budget 2026–27, calling it completely directionless and a mere exercise in number manipulation.
Udaipur Rural District Congress President Raghuveer Singh Meena said that the budget fails to provide employment to youth, relief to farmers, or support to common people struggling with inflation. He alleged that the government has only made tall claims without any assurance of implementation on the ground. “This budget of the ‘Parchi Government’ is nothing but number juggling; it contains no roadmap for development,” he said. He added that unemployment is at its peak, farmers are burdened with debt, women feel unsafe, and law and order has weakened, yet the government remains indifferent to public suffering.
He further stated that people of Rajasthan, distressed by rising prices, were expecting relief through a reduction in VAT on petrol and diesel, but the government failed to do so, shattering public expectations. He claimed that the issue was raised prominently during the Assembly elections but has now been ignored. “The people of the state have understood the false promises and rhetoric of this government and will respond at the right time,” he added, terming the budget a betrayal of public trust.
Udaipur City District Congress President Fateh Singh Rathore also criticized the budget, stating that like previous years, it is a bundle of announcements confined to paper. He said every section of society had expectations from the budget, but those hopes have turned into disappointment. According to him, the government has focused more on publicity than on actual investment promotion, as visible progress on the ground is lacking. He further stated that there is no concrete plan to increase agricultural income and that data regarding fulfillment of previous announcements has not been made public. Overall, he termed the budget completely directionless and anti-people.
Reacting to the budget, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Social Media Department Coordinator Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit claimed that in the previous three budgets, the government made more than 2,718 announcements, of which only 750 (approximately 27 percent) have been completed. He alleged that 707 announcements (26 percent) have not even been initiated to date. He described the current budget as another “rhetorical budget.” He further said that major issues related to development works, roads, irrigation, health, and education have been entirely neglected. “This is not a development document for the state but a curtain of figures meant to hide the failures of the ‘Parchi Government,’” he stated.
