Udaipur: Senior Chartered Accountant of the city, Dr. Nirmal Kunawat, stated that the Rajasthan Budget for the year 2026–27, presented in the State Assembly, with a total outlay of approximately ₹21.52 lakh crore, is an ambitious document aimed at strengthening the state’s economic framework and accelerating long-term development. He said that substantial financial provisions have been made in sectors such as infrastructure, drinking water, energy, agriculture, education, and employment, which are expected to have a positive impact on Udaipur as well as the entire state.
An allocation of around ₹6,800 crore has been made for drinking water schemes, with a target to expand tap water connections to thousands of villages. Udaipur district, which has a large rural and tribal population, is likely to benefit directly from this initiative. Additionally, special budgetary provisions have been made for flood control and strengthening urban drainage systems, with Udaipur also included among the beneficiary regions.
In the area of roads and connectivity, a plan has been announced for the development and upgradation of approximately 42,000 kilometers of roads across the state. According to Dr. Kunawat, Udaipur will particularly benefit from this initiative, as improved road networks will boost tourism, the hospitality sector, transportation, and local trade. Connectivity between Udaipur and neighboring districts such as Gujarat (state border connectivity), Dungarpur, Banswara, and Rajsamand is expected to become stronger. Furthermore, an investment of about ₹3,000 crore in solar energy projects will promote green energy and could ensure long-term energy security for southern Rajasthan.
In the field of education, he described the establishment of the Rajasthan State Testing Agency as a significant reform. This move is expected to ensure transparency and streamlined conduct of competitive examinations, benefiting lakhs of students across the state, including those from Udaipur. The announcement of interest-free loans of up to ₹10 lakh for youth is seen as a positive step toward encouraging self-employment and fostering a startup culture. Strengthening healthcare services, upgrading government hospitals, and enhancing resources in medical colleges are also expected to reinforce facilities such as Udaipur’s MB Hospital and associated medical institutions.
According to Dr. Kunawat, the budget reflects balanced economic development through increased capital expenditure, expansion of infrastructure, and social security schemes. If the announced plans are implemented in a timely and transparent manner, Udaipur could achieve new heights not only in tourism but also in education, healthcare, and urban management.
