Udaipur: Acting on the suggestion of Member of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Rawat, the government has decided to prepare a zonal master plan for the Jaisamand region. The proposal has also been included in the state budget. The initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities for local residents and significantly reduce the large-scale migration witnessed in the area every year.

Dr. Rawat had earlier written to Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, urging the preparation of a tourism-based master plan to safeguard the livelihoods of villagers affected after the Jaisamand Wildlife Area in Salumber district was declared an Eco-Sensitive Zone through a notification issued on August 6, 2020, by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. The declaration imposed several environmental restrictions, adversely impacting income sources in tribal-dominated scheduled areas governed by PESA Act, 1996, and Forest Rights Act, 2006.

Villages including Tulsi ka Namla, Naijhar, Bagruwa, Ajabra, Basot, Runija, Vasoo, Adwas, Jagat, Jawad, Gingla, Nayakua, Menduda, Semal, Ghulji ka Guda, Saradi, Kantoda, Butwas, Pahadi, Batuka, Jhadol, Dhani Melana, Dhawadiya, Dingadi Phala, Devla, and Oda have faced livelihood challenges, forcing residents to migrate for work.

With the government’s approval, a comprehensive tourism-oriented zonal master plan will now be prepared for Jaisamand, along with similar plans for eco-sensitive zones of Keserbagh (Dholpur), Tal Chhapar (Churu), and Shergarh Wildlife Sanctuary (Baran), aiming to create sustainable employment and strengthen local economies.
