Udaipur: On the occasion of Rajasthan Day, a four-day exhibition titled “Mewar in Records” was inaugurated on Tuesday at the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi Library by Udaipur City MLA Tarachand Jain. The event was attended by renowned historian Dr. Shrikrishna Jugnu, noted architect Sunil Laddha, along with writers, researchers, and prominent citizens of the city.

While visiting the exhibition, MLA Jain appreciated the glorious history of Mewar and stated that history forms the foundation of our culture. He also suggested establishing a permanent archival gallery in the city to connect the public with Udaipur’s rich past.

A seminar was also organized on this occasion, where speakers highlighted the importance of Mewar’s history, culture, and archival records. Historian Dr. Shrikrishna Jugnu emphasized that history is a priceless heritage, and preserving it ensures the continuity of our civilization, literature, and culture. He also shared interesting facts related to Mewar, noting that the tradition of translation in the world is believed to have originated here.

Architect Sunil Laddha stated that history helps us understand our ancient glory, archaeology, and craftsmanship. He also announced that he would prepare the architectural plan for the building allotted to the department’s Udaipur office free of cost.

Assistant Director Basant Singh Solanki informed that the exhibition showcases various archival materials reflecting the socio-economic conditions of Mewar, including records of income and expenditure, rainfall data, copper plates, traditional account books, and documents related to fairs.

The seminar was conducted by Rajat Kahaniwala. The event was attended by Kundan Mali, Hemant Joshi, Sunil Tank, Sarita Jain, Ramdayal Mehar, along with staff members of the office and academy, and a large number of citizens.
