Udaipur  | Under the statewide public awareness drive titled “Strengthen Organization – Save Democracy,” the Udaipur Rural District Congress Committee today launched its जन-जागरण (mass awareness) campaign.

Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit of the Udaipur Rural District Congress stated that the current “slip-based government” in the state is undermining democratic values by postponing Panchayati Raj and urban local body elections. He alleged that, instead of holding elections, administrators have been appointed in these institutions, reflecting an anti-democratic approach. In protest, the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee is running this campaign across the state from April 1 to April 30, 2026, to raise awareness among the public about these decisions.

As part of this initiative, the campaign was launched today in the Mavli विधानसभा constituency through the Block Congress Committees of Mavli and Khemli.

Addressing party officials, workers, and the public during the meeting, Udaipur Rural District Congress President Raghuveer Singh Meena said that the government has crossed all limits in undermining democracy. On one hand, it is delaying Panchayat and municipal elections, and on the other, it intends to conduct elections based on outdated voter lists filled with absent, shifted, and deceased voters—something he termed completely unconstitutional.

He questioned why, despite the release of the final SIR (Special Intensive Revision) list, the formation of Panchayats and wards was carried out using the January 2025 voter list, which allegedly contains a large number of fake and non-existent voters. He further criticized the government as being completely inefficient and lacking decision-making capability, accusing it of being intent on dismantling democracy.

Meena also raised concerns over financial management, questioning how ₹1900 crore allocated for rural development lapsed if the government claims to bring funds from Delhi. He alleged that the delay in conducting elections reflects fear of defeat due to growing public dissatisfaction. He asserted that the Congress party will continue to fight alongside the people—from the streets to the legislature—to protect democracy.

The campaign was attended by several party leaders and workers, including Mavli MLA Pushkar Dangi, former Deputy District Head Laxminarayan Pandya, former Mavli Pradhan Narendra Chandalya, Mavli Block President Rajendra Gokhru, Khemli Block President Mahendra Singh Ranawat, former Block President Ashok Vaishnav, Mahesh Paliwal, former District President of Rural Youth Congress Raunak Garg, Gudli Mandal President Lav Purohit, Ghassa Mandal President Rupalal Dangi, Dabok Mandal President Nanalal Nagda, Debari Mandal President Narayan Lal Gayari, and many other office bearers and Congress workers.
