Udaipur  | Under the aegis of the 'Janmat Manch,' and on the occasion of National Civil Services Day, the organization's Founder and President, Dr. Shrinivas Mahawar, shared insights regarding the significance of the day. He stated that Indian Civil Services Day provides public servants with an opportunity to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation and to reaffirm their commitment to excellence in public service.
In April 1947, India's first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, addressed the probationary officers of the administrative services at Metcalfe House in Delhi. He famously referred to civil servants as the 'Steel Frame of India.'
On this occasion, the 'Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration' (PMAEPA) are conferred; these awards recognize officers from both the Central and State governments who have demonstrated innovative work.
This day was first observed by the Government of India on April 21, 2006, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The Government of India annually observes this day as 'Civil Services Day' to remind administrative officers of their duties toward national service and their accountability to the citizens. It serves as an opportunity for government employees to dedicate themselves to the welfare of the citizens and to renew their commitment to excellence in public service and professional conduct.
Speaking on the occasion, the attendees—including Janmat Manch Secretary Shirish Nath Mathur, Joint Secretary Dr. Priyadarshi Ojha, Assistant Secretary Vinod Kumar Chaudhary, Treasurer Vishal Mathur, as well as Dr. Kunal Ameta, Assistant Professor Azad Meena, and Dharmendra Kumar Verma—emphasized that this day offers an opportunity to prioritize the service of citizens above all else and to renew one's commitment to excellence in work.
Furthermore, it serves as a reminder to civil servants of their responsibilities regarding policy implementation, the maintenance of law and order, and the acceleration of socio-economic development. Awards: On this occasion, the 'Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration' (PMAEPA) are conferred upon officials who have performed exceptional work in implementing government schemes and resolving citizens' grievances.
The outstanding work performed by civil servants is recognized and honored by the Prime Minister of India. Individuals are presented with medals, citations, and cash awards.
On this day, the Central Government evaluates the performance of various departments and formulates plans for the years ahead, thereby motivating employees to strive for even greater excellence in their work.
In essence, this is not merely a celebration, but a significant opportunity for civil servants to reaffirm their pledge of "Service First."
