Udaipur: Maharana Mewar Public School celebrated World Dance Day with great enthusiasm and joy at The City Palace, Udaipur, aiming to promote the rich heritage of music and dance. On this occasion, the school’s music department organized a grand inter-house solo dance competition for students of Classes 3 to 5.

A total of 35 participants from all five houses showcased their talent with confidence, energy, and artistic expression. The program began with a Ganesh Vandana, creating a devotional atmosphere. This was followed by a heartfelt poetry presentation based on Raag Basant, an original composition by the performer. The subsequent performances left the audience spellbound.

During the event, student Pranjal Jain shared her thoughts on the importance of World Dance Day and the cultural significance of dance, inspiring fellow students. Special performances included a captivating Kathak presentation by Shanaya Nagori and a Bharatanatyam performance by Manasvi Marmath, both of which were highly appreciated by the audience.

As part of the SPIC MACAY heritage series, a special classical dance performance was also organised, featuring renowned Mohiniyattam dancer Neena Prasad, who mesmerized everyone with her exceptional artistry. She was accompanied by Changanassery Madhavan Namboothiri on vocals, V.S.K. Annadurai on violin, and K.P. Ramesh Babu on mridangam. The event was also graced by the presence of SPIC MACAY coordinator D.K. Gupta.

The Honorary Director of the school, Satish Kumar Sharma, extended his wishes on International Dance Day and said, “Dance is a powerful expression of our culture, emotions, and creativity. It inspires discipline, confidence, and dedication. Such events not only nurture students’ talents but also provide them with a strong platform to showcase their abilities.”

At the end of the program, Ms. Parul Mehta expressed gratitude to all participants, judges, teachers, and attendees. Students from Classes 5 to 12 studying dance, along with all teachers of the music department, were present to encourage the performers.
