Udaipur . The Udaipur City and Rural Congress units staged a powerful protest outside the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) office against the recent demolition drive carried out in Bari Kotlia, Balicha (Savina Kheda, Nela) area. The Congress leaders submitted a memorandum demanding immediate action against responsible BJP leaders, UDA officials, and land mafias, as well as proper housing arrangements for the displaced poor families.

The protest, led by Udaipur City Congress President Fatah Singh Rathore and Udaipur Rural Congress President Kachru Lal Chaudhary, saw the participation of several party workers and local residents. Protesters raised slogans such as “Dismiss corrupt officials,” “Provide homes for displaced families,” and “Down with the arbitrary rule of the ‘Parchi Sarkar’.”

Congress spokesperson Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit stated that the demolition, conducted under the guise of an anti-encroachment drive, had rendered several poor families homeless. He emphasized that those who misled innocent people into purchasing illegal plots — including certain ruling party leaders and officials — must be held accountable.

Fatah Singh Rathore condemned the UDA’s action as inhuman and politically motivated, questioning why the Authority had remained silent for years while the colony developed with official water and electricity connections. He demanded a probe into the negligence of departmental officers who failed to act earlier, calling for strict disciplinary and legal action against them.

Kachru Lal Chaudhary said the demolition had destroyed the homes built with the lifelong savings of poor families. He compared the act to the oppression of colonial times, accusing the UDA of showing complete disregard for humanitarian values. He further demanded the arrest of involved land mafias and officials, along with alternative housing for the affected families.

The protest was attended by several prominent Congress leaders, including PCC Vice President Suresh Shrimali, PCC General Secretary Gopal Sharma, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, Suresh Suthar, PCC Secretary Dinesh Shrimali, Arun Tank, Dalpat Singh Chundawat, Mohammad Ayyub, Najma Mewafarosh, Seema Pancholi, Shanta Prince, Ajay Singh, Laxmi Narayan Meghwal, Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit, Pankaj Paliwal, Harshvardhan Singh Kelawat, and others.

The Congress delegation submitted a detailed memorandum to the UDA Commissioner, urging immediate legal action against the culprits, confiscation of their illegal assets, compensation for the victims, and proper rehabilitation of the displaced families.
