Udaipur. With the objective of ensuring the protection of the Aravalli mountain range and exercising effective control over illegal mining, a special joint enforcement अभियान is being carried out with full strictness in Udaipur district as per the directions of the State Government. Under this campaign, extensive actions have been taken across the district since December 29 by joint inspection teams constituted under the direction of District Collector **Namit Mehta**.

Mining Engineer **Asif Ansari** informed that so far **10 cases of illegal mining**, **1 case of illegal storage**, and **21 cases of illegal transportation** have been registered. In addition, **drone surveys of 8 mining leases** have been conducted. In two masonry stone mining leases, mining was found beyond the approved limits; panchnamas were prepared, and **show-cause notices** were issued to the concerned leaseholders after providing them an opportunity of hearing. The department has imposed penalties amounting to approximately **₹3 crore** so far.

It is noteworthy that, on the instructions of **Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma**, a **joint special enforcement drive** is being conducted from **December 29, 2025, to January 15, 2026**, across **20 districts** falling under the Aravalli extension, including Alwar, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, and Udaipur, to curb illegal activities in the Aravalli region.

In this regard, District Collector Namit Mehta convened a meeting of officials from the **Mining, Forest, Environment, Revenue, Police, and Transport Departments** and issued strict directions to take action against illegal mining activities with a **zero-tolerance policy**. To ensure the effectiveness of the campaign, **joint teams were formed at the sub-division level**, continuous monitoring was carried out in sensitive areas, machinery and vehicles involved in illegal activities were promptly seized, **drone surveys** were utilized, adequate police force was deployed, and **simultaneous stringent legal action** was taken by various departments.

Additionally, due to unusually high variations in production in certain mining leases during the financial year **2025–26** compared to **2024–25**, a total of **nine mining leases** were identified. To verify the actual स्थिति, **drone surveys and volumetric calculations** were conducted through **RSMET**.

These concerted efforts reflect the administration’s strong commitment to protecting the Aravalli ecosystem and curbing illegal mining activities.
