A one-day training and seed-herbicide distribution program on advanced Rabi maize cultivation was organized on 25th November 2025 at Badli village, Kotda Tehsil, under the All India Maize Research Project operated by MPUAT, Udaipur. Around 120 farmers from Badli village participated in the program.

The program was graced by Sarpanch Mrs. Maya Devi, social worker Shambhu Lal Lonur, Dr. Harish Kumar Sumeria (Crop Science Scientist), Dr. Ram Narayan Kumhar (Nematode, Plant and Disease Scientist), and Shankar Lal Parmar (Agriculture Supervisor, Rajasthan Government). Dr. Harish Kumar Sumeria warmly welcomed all the farmers and local volunteers.

During the training, farmers were guided through all stages of advanced Rabi maize cultivation, from sowing to harvesting and storage. Key topics included optimal sowing time, seed spacing, cost-effective techniques for maximum yield, and strategies to improve the livelihood of tribal farmers. Dr. Sumeria also provided detailed information on weed management in Rabi maize, including the correct dosage, timing, and methods of herbicide application.

Dr. Ram Narayan Kumhar explained identification of pests, nematodes, and diseases in maize and recommended appropriate treatments at the right time. He also shared solutions to common challenges in advanced maize farming, guidance on producing high-yield maize varieties in farms, and marketing strategies for selling maize products. Farmers were also advised on diversifying income using maize alongside other resources to increase overall earnings.

At the conclusion of the program, all participating farmers were provided with advanced Rabi maize seeds and herbicides to implement the techniques learned during the training.
