Udaipur: A one-day farmer training program on “Advanced Production Technology in Seed Spice Crops” was successfully organized on Monday, February 12, 2026, by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Udaipur (II), Vallabhnagar. The program was conducted under a project sponsored by the Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development, Kozhikode, Kerala, and implemented at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology.
At the outset, Dr. Urmila, Technical Assistant and Co-Project In-charge, highlighted the importance of spice crops and encouraged farmers to cultivate them for higher economic returns. She also discussed integrated nutrient management practices in spice crops.
Mr. Mohan Lal Khatik, Technical Assistant at KVK Udaipur (II), Vallabhnagar, explained the objectives of the project and elaborated on processing and value addition in major seed spice crops of the region. Dr. Hitesh Kumar Koli, Technical Assistant at the same centre, discussed improved varieties of important seed spice crops.
Mr. Dhanpal Kothari, Technical Assistant at the Agriculture Research Sub-Station, Vallabhnagar, emphasized various aspects of organic farming in spice crops. He also conducted a field visit demonstrating seed production practices of fenugreek, a major seed spice crop.
A total of 65 progressive farmers participated in the training program. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Abhilasha Pokharna.
