A one-day farmers’ training program was successfully organized under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) at Namla, Jaisamand. The program was conducted under the All India Coordinated Wheat and Barley Improvement Project at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology.

Under the TSP Scheduled Tribe scheme, seeds of the improved summer moong (green gram) variety ‘Virat’ were distributed to 50 selected farmers. The training program, held on February 27, 2026, provided farmers with detailed information on advanced production technologies.

Focus on Improved Production Techniques

Project In-charge Dr. Jagdish Choudhary highlighted advanced production technologies for summer moong, including high-quality seed selection, balanced fertilizer management, and improved cropping practices. He explained that the improved variety ‘Virat’ offers higher yield potential and better disease tolerance, which can significantly enhance farmers’ income.

Pest and Disease Management Guidance

Dr. Kuldeep Suthar, Agriculture Research Officer (Entomology), Department of Agriculture, Government of Rajasthan, informed farmers about the identification and effective management of major pests and diseases affecting pulse crops. He emphasized adopting biological pest control measures alongside chemical control methods to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.

Climate-Smart Crop Management

During the training, Dr. Amit Bishnoi elaborated on proper pulse crop management in the context of changing weather conditions. He discussed irrigation management, nutrient management, and timely pest and disease control strategies. Farmers were advised to adopt weather-based agricultural practices to improve productivity and resilience.

Conclusion

At the end of the program, Mr. Sanwariya Lal Dhakad expressed gratitude to the guests and participating farmers. The registration process of farmers was completed, and the program concluded successfully.

Participating farmers described the training as highly beneficial and expressed their expectation that similar programs should be organized in the future.
