Udaipur: The agitation by bank employees and officers over long-pending demands is intensifying, with the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) calling for a protest in Udaipur on Thursday, September 24.

The protest will be held at 5:30 pm outside the Town Hall branch of Punjab National Bank and is being described by the union as a final warning demonstration ahead of the proposed three-day bank strike.

UFBU convener D.K. Jain said bank unions have been pursuing several pending issues through discussions and negotiations for a long time. However, with no satisfactory resolution, the unions have decided to intensify the agitation.

The key demands include immediate implementation of a five-day banking week, initiation of negotiations on Performance Linked Incentive (PLI), and early resolution of residual issues.

Jain said bank employees and officers would unite to register their protest against the delay in addressing their demands and press for action from the government and concerned authorities. He appealed to all bank employees and officers to reach the protest venue by 5:30 pm and make the demonstration successful.

During the protest, employees are expected to raise slogans including “Implement Five-Day Banking Week,” “Start Negotiations on PLI” and “Stop Delaying Resolution of Residual Issues.”

UFBU has stated that if necessary steps are not taken to address the demands, the unions will proceed with the next phase of their agitation as per the announced programme, including moving towards an indefinite strike.
