Udaipur,  Senior obstetrician and gynaecologist and Professor Emeritus at Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Dr Rajrani Sharma, has been honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation by the London Book of World Records, United Kingdom, for her contribution to women’s healthcare, surgical innovation, medical education and research.

The recognition was conferred on September 26, 2026, acknowledging Dr Sharma’s decades-long contribution to the fields of obstetrics and gynaecology, advanced surgical techniques, medical training and women’s health services.

Throughout her career, Dr Sharma has performed and guided the management of thousands of complex obstetric and gynaecological cases. Alongside her clinical work, she has played an important role in developing and teaching newer surgical techniques and training medical professionals.

One of her notable contributions is the ‘Sharma Sling’ surgical technique, developed for the treatment of uterine prolapse. The technique focuses on treating the condition while preserving the uterus, offering an alternative approach in selected cases. According to the institution, the technique has received patent/IPR recognition in India and was published internationally in 2025.

Dr Sharma has also made significant contributions to medical education and research, mentoring and training several doctors during her long academic and clinical career. Many of her trainees have subsequently established themselves in different areas of the medical profession.

Her work has combined clinical practice with surgical innovation, research and education, with a particular focus on advancing women's healthcare.
