### Dr. Luhadia Joins TESCON Workshop

At the National Thoracic Endoscopy Society Conference 'TESCON' held in Jaipur, Dr. Atul Luhadia, a TB and Chest Disease Specialist from Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital, was invited as a faculty member for the thoracoscopy workshop. During the workshop, Dr. Luhadia educated the delegates on the use of thoracoscopy, an endoscopic procedure employed in diagnosing and treating fluid accumulation in the chest, sharing his extensive experience in the field.

Medical thoracoscopy is a type of chest endoscopy where a small section of the chest is numbed, and a thoracoscope is inserted through a tiny incision. This allows for a detailed examination of the chest's interior to identify any abnormalities, remove accumulated fluids and adhesions, and conduct biopsies. This procedure is associated with fewer complications, lower risks, reduced costs, shorter hospital stays, and minimal scarring.

Dr. Luhadia urged fellow physicians to consider thoracoscopy and biopsy for diagnosing pleural effusion rather than repeatedly extracting fluid with a needle. He emphasized that timely diagnosis and treatment are crucial. At Geetanjali Hospital, Dr. Luhadia and his team have successfully performed over 500 thoracoscopies, providing accurate diagnoses and effective treatments.

Additionally, at the conference, Dr. Luhadia delivered a lecture on bronchoscopy, an endoscopic procedure for the lungs, focusing on diagnosing and treating cases of sputum and hemoptysis (coughing up blood). He highlighted that hemoptysis is a serious symptom that can signify severe lung conditions, potentially leading to life-threatening situations. He advised immediate consultation with a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment if such symptoms occur.
