Udaipur: The Regional Research & Extension Advisory Committee (Division IV-A) convened on 25th September 2025 at the auditorium of the Directorate of Research, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, under the chairmanship of the Director of Research. The meeting was organized at the Agricultural Research Centre, Directorate of Research, Udaipur.
Addressing the meeting, the Director of Research highlighted that in the previous year, university scientists had made a total of 49 technical recommendations, and new varieties of maize, medicinal crops, groundnut, and sorghum were released, reflecting the university’s excellence in agricultural research.
Dr. Verma emphasized the need for developing crop varieties in line with climate change and stressed organic farming practices to provide chemical-free, nutritious food to the public.
Dr. R.L. Soni, Director of Extension Education, noted that Rajasthan occupies a significant position in the production of various crops. He urged the adoption of organic farming and modern technologies to enhance productivity and benefit farmers.
Dr. Manoj Mahla, Principal of Rajasthan College of Agriculture and Director of Student Welfare, highlighted the importance of quality nurseries to provide superior planting material across the state.
At the start of the meeting, Shri Vinod Kumar Jain, Joint Director, Agriculture Department, Bhilwara, shared detailed information on rainfall distribution, sown crop areas, productivity, and challenges faced during Rabi 2024, requesting scientists to propose solutions, disseminate advanced seeds and technologies, promote crop diversification, and encourage value-added agricultural products to improve farmers’ income.
Dr. Amit Trivedi, Regional Research Director, welcomed all dignitaries and provided updates on ongoing university projects, division-specific agro-climatic conditions, and new research techniques. He also presented reports addressing problems faced by various crops in the division.
The meeting was attended by Shri Mahesh Chejara, Joint Director, Horticulture, Bhilwara; Dr. O.P. Sharma, Deputy Director, Chittorgarh; Shri Ramesh Ameta, Agricultural Research Officer, Chittorgarh; Shri P.C. Verma, Project Director, ATMA, Chittorgarh; and Dr. Ravikant Sharma, Deputy Director, Directorate of Research, Udaipur.
During the session, scientists and officers presented their research and extension activities conducted in Rabi 2024, and recommendations were issued for farmers to adopt these improved practices for enhanced productivity and sustainability.
