ADJ Inspects Sub-Jail in Suratgarh and Conducts Legal Awareness Camp

Sri Ganganagar,  The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Shri Gajendra Singh Tenguriya (Additional District and Sessions Judge), conducted an inspection of the Sub-Jail in Suratgarh, Taluka area, on Thursday. During the inspection, he visited the barracks, examined the basic facilities provided to the inmates, and gave necessary directions for improvements. He also inspected the jail kitchen, checked the quality of food, and spoke with the inmates to gather feedback on the food and other facilities. He discussed their issues in a gathering with the prisoners and issued relevant instructions for betterment.

During the visit, Shri Gajendra Singh Tenguriya informed the inmates about their legal rights. He explained the rights they possess while being incarcerated and inquired about their legal representation. He emphasized that any inmate who cannot afford a private lawyer can apply through the District Legal Services Authority, Sri Ganganagar, or the Taluka Legal Services Committee, Suratgarh, and will be provided with a lawyer at no cost to represent them in court.

Legal Awareness Camp at Harsh Convent School

A legal awareness camp was also organized at Harsh Convent School in Suratgarh to educate students about the social evils prevalent in society, with a focus on raising awareness about the prevention of child marriage. The camp was attended by prominent guests including Shri Gajendra Singh Tenguriya, Additional District and Sessions Judge; Shri Rajeev Jakhar, Assistant Director, Department of Child Rights, Sri Ganganagar; Shri Jogendra Kaushik, Chairman of the Child Welfare Committee, Sri Ganganagar; Dr. Ramprakash Sharma, Member, Child Welfare Committee, Sri Ganganagar; and Shri Anil Dhanuka, Chairman, Harsh Convent School, and District Lokpal.

During the camp, the District Legal Services Authority Secretary, Shri Gajendra Singh Tenguriya, informed the students about their legal rights and emphasized the need to eliminate social evils like child marriage. He also provided information about the Victim Compensation Scheme launched by the State Legal Services Authority. As part of the camp, the students took an oath to prevent child marriage.

Additionally, Shri Rajeev Jakhar, Assistant Director of the Child Rights Department, Sri Ganganagar, spoke to the children about "Good Touch and Bad Touch." He urged them to immediately report any such incidents by calling the emergency number 1098 to ensure quick action. The camp also encouraged students to maintain good health, pursue quality education, and stay away from substance abuse. They were motivated to engage in sports and yoga activities and become responsible citizens by obtaining proper education.

The event was supported by the school principal, Amrit Prakash Singh, the Taluka Secretary of the Suratgarh Legal Services Committee, Vinod Bhati, panel lawyer Tushar Kamra, PLV Rajesh Kumar Parikh, school staff, and students, who all contributed to the success of the camp.
