Dr. Vikas Dave:  An Inspiration for Child Literature Writers

Dr. Vikas Dave is an internationally acclaimed children's author, educationist, researcher, journalist, and literary administrator whose remarkable contribution to Indian children's literature has inspired generations of young readers and writers.

Born on 3 May 1969 in Ninor village of Arnod Tehsil, then Chittorgarh district, Rajasthan, Dr. Dave is the son of Late Shri Jeevanlal Dave and Smt. Sushila Devi. He holds an M.A. in Hindi Literature, M.Phil., Ph.D. in Child Journalism, and D.Litt. in Child Psychology.

Currently serving as Director of the Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Akademi, Director of the Indian Children's Literature Research Institute, Indore, Minister-Director of Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti and Hindi Bhavan Nyas, Bhopal, and Vice-Chairman of Madhya Bharat Hindi Sahitya Samiti, Indore, he has devoted his life to the promotion of literature, education, and cultural values.

With more than 3,000 published literary works in leading national magazines and newspapers, Dr. Dave has established himself as one of India's foremost voices in children's literature. His works have been broadcast extensively through All India Radio, Doordarshan, and various television channels. Over 50 research papers on diverse subjects have also been published under his authorship.

A distinguished academic guide, he has supervised more than 80 scholars who successfully completed Ph.D. and D.Litt. degrees under his mentorship. Through over 3,000 lectures delivered at national and international seminars, conferences, and lecture series, he has directly interacted with more than 300,000 children and youth.

Dr. Dave has authored over 30 books covering children's stories, educational philosophy, value-based literature, history, journalism, and Indian cultural heritage. He has also edited more than 350 books, journals, commemorative volumes, and literary publications.

For the past 38 years, he has remained actively associated with child journalism. As the Editor of the renowned children's monthly magazine Devputra for over three decades, he played a pivotal role in achieving a record circulation of 371,000 copies per month, a landmark achievement in children's publishing.

His contributions have been recognized globally through more than 150 national and international awards, including honors at the World Literature Conference in Paris, the World Hindi Conference in Fiji, Bal Sahitya Jeevan Gaurav Samman, World Hindi Honour, Bihar Ratna, Maharashtra Bharati, and numerous prestigious literary and journalistic awards.

A member of several national educational, literary, and cultural advisory bodies, Dr. Dave has also contributed to curriculum development, moral education initiatives, and literary promotion programs. He was associated with the advisory committee formed for UNESCO Creative City of Literature initiatives for Bhopal.

Through his lifelong dedication to literature, education, culture, and child development, Dr. Vikas Dave continues to inspire writers, educators, researchers, and young minds across India and beyond.
