Vande Mataram @150: A Celebration of Patriotism on the Waves of Fatehsagar Lake

Udaipur,The City of Lakes was adorned in the colors of patriotism as Udaipur celebrated the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ with a grand district-level event at the Fatehsagar Lake promenade. The event was organized under the patronage of District In-charge and Minister of Revenue & Colonization, Mr. Hemant Meena, whose presence added grace to the patriotic celebration. The resonant chants of “Vande Mataram” amidst the rippling waves of the lake created a mesmerizing atmosphere of devotion and national pride.

The program began with a collective singing of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Minister Meena, MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, MLA Phoolsingh Meena, Divisional Commissioner Ms. Pragya Kevalramani, UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain, and social workers Gajpalsingh Rathore, Pushkar Teli, Mithlesh Kumar, Banshilal Khateek, Chandragupt Singh Chauhan, and Paras Singhvi inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Additional District Collector (Administration) Dipendra Singh Rathore, ADM City Jitendra Ojha, Badgaon SDM Latika Paliwal, and Deputy Director of Tourism Shikha Saxena welcomed the guests with traditional uparnas. Students from various schools captivated the audience with their patriotic performances, filling the venue with enthusiasm and pride. Throughout the event, the chants of “Vande Mataram” echoed in the air, inspiring everyone present.

In his address, Minister Hemant Meena said, “‘Vande Mataram’ united the nation during the freedom struggle. Today, as we strive to make India a developed nation, we must rekindle that same spirit of nationalism. This song continues to be the soul and voice of our nation.” MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat and MLA Phoolsingh Meena also shared their reflections on the occasion. The event was anchored by Ranveer Singh Ranawat.

Thrilling Water Sports Display
Following the cultural program, the dignitaries inaugurated the Water Sports Activities, which included canoeing, kayaking, and a spectacular dragon boat demonstration. The audience, gathered along the lake promenade, watched the performances with excitement and pride.

NSS Patriotic Rally and Tribute to Martyrs
The celebration began earlier with a patriotic rally organized under the direction of District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal, starting from Kala Kiwad and culminating at Taya Palace. NSS volunteers and school students filled the streets with chants of “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

The event commenced with floral tributes to martyrs at the Shaheed Smarak located in the Municipal Corporation premises. Minister Meena, MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, MLA Phoolsingh Meena, Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani, and other dignitaries paid homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

The celebration at Fatehsagar Lake beautifully reflected Udaipur’s patriotic spirit, blending the rhythm of the waves with the eternal song of Vande Mataram.
