Udaipur: The air at Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal turned musical and magical as the golden era of Hindi cinema came alive once again. With timeless hits like “Ye Shaam Mastani” and “Raat Nashīli Mast Samaa Hai”, the evening titled “Amit Kumar Live in Concert” transported Udaipur’s audience into a world of nostalgia and rhythm. Legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar and granddaughter Muktika Ganguly enchanted the audience with their soulful performances, leaving everyone humming and swaying to the eternal melodies.

Jointly organized by Indira Enterprises, Kashti Foundation, and USM (Ultimate Soul of Music), the concert drew a packed house even before the first note was struck. The moment Amit Kumar took the stage, waves of applause filled the auditorium, setting the tone for an evening of timeless charm.
Amit began his performance with the evergreen “Bachna Ae Haseeno Lo Main Aa Gaya”, electrifying the audience into standing ovation. He followed it with the emotional “Kora Kagaz Tha Ye Man Mera” from Aradhana, and soon the hall echoed with applause. Numbers like “Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani,” “Keh Doon Tumhe Ya Chup Rahun,” “Bade Achhe Lagte Hain,” “Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai,” and “Neela Neela Ambar Pe” recreated the magic of Kishore Da’s voice, connecting generations through melody and memory.
When Muktika Ganguly took the mic, her energy and voice lit up the stage. From “Kamli” and “Crazy Kiya Re” to the iconic “Dum Maro Dum”, her youthful rhythm merged perfectly with the audience’s enthusiasm. Her rendition of “Tu Kya Jaane” added a touch of modern freshness to the retro night.
Before the main acts, local Udaipur artists too graced the stage, turning it into a celebration of community talent. Performers like Gaurav Medtwal, Komal Barhath, Kunal Mehta, Kapil Paliwal, Dr. Chitrasen, Divyansh Sharma, Kartik Sompura, Bhavesh Vairagi, Yuvaraj Singh, Sandeep Nagda, Ankit Chauhan, and Kanishka Verma earned thunderous applause for their vibrant renditions.
Adding depth to the evening, Ultimate Soul of Music (USM) Group performed choral numbers and instrumental segments. Members Urvashi Singhvi, Lata Bhandari, Renu Banthia, Dr. H.S. Bhui, Dinesh Galundia, Lovel Chhabra, Meetu Kawedia, Deepa Verma, Umesh Manwani, Rani Bhui, Seema Singh, Dilip Surana, Sanjay Verma, and Dr. M.L. Gupta enriched the night with a symphony of voices and rhythms that resonated with grace.
The musical extravaganza was dedicated to Dr. Ajay Murdia’s 73rd birthday, a tribute that intertwined art, love, and life. Conceptualized by Neetij–Shraddha Murdia and Kshitij–Aastha Murdia, the event embodied Indira Murdia’s emotions, Ajay Murdia’s affection, and Udaipur’s deep-rooted love for music. Their grandson Veer Murdia too joined the celebration, making it a true family affair steeped in melody and legacy.
Part of the Indira Swarangam Series, which has previously hosted stalwarts like Padma Shri Anup Jalota, lyricist Sameer Anjaan, Suresh Wadkar, and Vikram Bhatt, the concert reaffirmed the city’s place on India’s cultural map.
Founder Shraddha Murdia beautifully summed up the essence of the evening —
“This was not just an entertainment event, but a heartfelt effort to inspire positive change through the power of art and music.”
Indeed, it was a night where music met emotion, nostalgia met newness, and generations sang in unison — a night that left Udaipur’s heart beating to the rhythm of Kishore Da’s immortal tunes.
