Quarterly Workshop for Judicial Officers Held in Udaipur

UDAIPUR, A one-day quarterly workshop for judicial officers from Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh and Salumber districts was held at the conference hall of the Udaipur court complex under the aegis of the Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur.

The workshop, covering the April–July quarter, was conducted in the presence of Justice Vineet Kumar Mathur of the Rajasthan High Court. Judicial officers and judges from the four districts participated in the programme.

Justice Mathur inaugurated the workshop by lighting the ceremonial lamp. He was joined on the dais by Udaipur District and Sessions Judge Gyan Prakash Gupta, Rajsamand District and Sessions Judge Alka Sharma, Chittorgarh District and Sessions Judge Man Singh Chundawat, and Salumber District and Sessions Judge Rameshwar Prasad Chaudhary.

Court Manager Sunil Jain said the workshop was coordinated by Additional District Judge (AGJ-2) Damayanti Purohit and Chief Judicial Magistrate Manish Kumar Joshi, while Judicial Magistrate Chetali, presiding over NI Act Court No. 8, conducted the proceedings.

Focus on Gender Sensitivity and Women's Rights

The workshop featured detailed discussions on the role of judges in ensuring gender equality and the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act). Speakers explained the legal framework and procedures for preventing workplace discrimination and harassment.

Participants also examined constitutional principles and Supreme Court guidelines on protecting the rights and dignity of women at the workplace. Discussions highlighted the use of gender-neutral language in judicial proceedings and judgments, with reference to the Supreme Court's ruling in Aparna Bhat v. State of Madhya Pradesh and other recent judicial decisions.

The workshop further addressed the need for gender-sensitive judicial and administrative practices, as well as the social and psychological dimensions of dowry-related offences. Speakers referred to the Supreme Court judgment in State of Uttar Pradesh v. Azmal Beg while discussing cases involving crimes against women.

Digital Arrests and Cybercrime Recovery Discussed

A dedicated session focused on the growing challenge of digital arrest scams and other cybercrimes, particularly issues relating to the recovery and restoration of defrauded funds.

Participants reviewed recent judicial decisions, including matters arising from suo motu criminal writ petitions before the Supreme Court, concerning the restoration of funds and grievance redressal mechanisms. The workshop also emphasized the importance of registering complaints through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and increasing public awareness of the platform.

Speakers explained the legal procedures governing the freezing, holding and seizure of bank accounts and assets, as well as the jurisdiction of competent courts in deciding the custody and release of frozen or seized funds. Judicial officers were encouraged to rely on relevant Supreme Court and High Court precedents to ensure consistency and accuracy in future decisions.
