Udaipur witnessed a meaningful celebration of journalism ethics during the Narad Jayanti and Journalist Felicitation Ceremony held at Bappa Rawal Auditorium, Sukhadia University. Organized by Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Chittor Prant, the event emphasized the responsibility of media in shaping an informed and balanced society.

Senior journalist Harshvardhan Tripathi, the keynote speaker, stated that journalism is not merely about delivering news but about guiding society with truth and integrity. He stressed that a journalist should never act as a “courtier” of power and must remain fearless and impartial while presenting facts. He also highlighted India’s development journey, pointing to progress in infrastructure, connectivity, and economic growth, while underlining the importance of balancing development with environmental protection.
The event also reflected on India’s cultural ethos, where nature is deeply respected. Speakers noted that rivers, trees, and natural resources are integral to life and belief systems, and journalists must ensure that environmental concerns receive due attention alongside development narratives.

Chief Guest Prof. Suresh Agrawal, Vice Chancellor of MDS University, Ajmer, drew inspiration from Narad Muni, emphasizing that journalists must speak truth boldly and without hesitation. He remarked that, like Narad, a true journalist should not hesitate in presenting facts clearly, even in challenging situations.
Adding to the discourse, Vice Chancellor Prof. Saraswat highlighted that in the rapidly evolving digital era, credibility remains the cornerstone of journalism. He stated that while technology has accelerated the spread of information, it has also increased the responsibility of journalists to verify facts and maintain ethical standards. He emphasized that institutions of higher education must play a key role in nurturing responsible media professionals who uphold truth and accountability.
Special Guest Dr. Mahavir Kumawat highlighted the role of media in bridging social, linguistic, and regional differences to build a stronger and more unified nation.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the felicitation of outstanding journalists across five categories. The awardees included:
Bhupesh Dadhich (Dainik Navjyoti, Udaipur) – Best Print Journalist

Each awardee was honoured with a memento, a copy of Devarshi Narad Sanchar Darshan, and a cash prize of ₹21,000, recognizing their contribution to responsible journalism.
The ceremony also featured cultural performances, including a Saraswati Vandana dance, a documentary on Devarshi Narad’s life, and exhibitions showcasing constitutional illustrations and literature. These elements enriched the event and connected traditional values with modern media practices.
Overall, the program emerged as more than just an award function—it served as a powerful reminder of journalism’s core principles: truth, courage, balance, and responsibility toward society.
