Melodies Echo at Shayarana Udaipur’s World Music Day Celebration

Udaipur: World Music Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm as the Shayarana Udaipur Family organized a vibrant musical competition and cultural evening at Aishwarya College. The event brought together talented singers, musicians, poets, and music lovers from across Rajasthan, creating a memorable atmosphere filled with melodies, rhythm, and artistic expression.

The program was graced by Dr. Anurag Saxena, Director of Pratap Gaurav Kendra, as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by noted historian Dr. Hukum Raj Joshi, while renowned musicians Mukesh Vaishnav, Jitendra Verma, and Rakesh Mathur attended as distinguished guests and judges.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anurag Saxena described Shayarana Udaipur as an emerging center for nurturing musical talent among the younger generation. He announced that artists associated with the organization would be provided opportunities to perform in upcoming state-level cultural events. He also proposed organizing special workshops under the guidance of experienced artists to further refine participants’ musical skills and deepen their connection with Indian art, culture, and heritage.

Artists from Udaipur, Nagaur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Nathdwara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Bhilwara, and Kapasan participated in the competition, making the event a truly regional celebration of music.

Program coordinator and singer Lalit Goyal informed that Shayarana Udaipur has been actively serving society through literature and music for the past fifteen years. The organization regularly conducts free cultural programs and provides an open platform for emerging talents in literature and music. Artists from various parts of Rajasthan and other states are associated with the group.

The competition featured a diverse range of performances, including classical and semi-classical singing, ghazals, dohas, chhands, folk songs, Sufi music, devotional bhajans, film songs, and instrumental presentations. Participants displayed exceptional talent and enthusiasm, making the event a grand success.

The judging panel comprising musicians Mukesh Vaishnav (Pratapgarh), Rakesh Mathur (Udaipur), and Jitendra Verma (Nagaur) praised the high standard of performances and described Shayarana Udaipur as a strong cultural platform that promotes artistic values and traditions.

One of the highlights of the evening was the mesmerizing semi-classical performance by Mukesh Vaishnav accompanied by the tanpura, which left the audience spellbound. Musician Dr. Rakesh Mathur also won appreciation for his rendition of intricate classical musical embellishments based on various ragas.

Inspired by the overwhelming response, founder Manoj Geetankar announced that Shayarana Udaipur would soon organize a free music workshop for the general public to encourage greater participation in music and cultural activities.

Due to the exceptionally high quality of performances, the judges decided to present consolation prizes to several deserving participants.

In the competition, Pankaj Veerwal secured the first position, while Kumar Dinesh of Rajsamand won second place. The third position was jointly awarded to Hema Joshi and Neelam Kaushik.

The winners were honored with trophies, certificates, traditional shawls, gifts, and complimentary membership of the Shayarana Udaipur Family.

The event was elegantly compered by litterateur Abha Sirsekar, whose presentation, enriched with poetry, couplets, and literary expressions, added a special charm to the celebration.

During the program, Dr. Hukum Raj Joshi delivered an insightful analysis on the relationship between music and society, earning widespread appreciation from the audience.

Founder Manoj Geetankar emphasized that Shayarana Udaipur is playing an important role in guiding the younger generation in a positive direction through literature and music. He remarked that music is a true reflection of civilization, culture, and human values.

The memorable evening featured impressive performances by Hemant Suryavanshi, Lakshmi Asawani, Jai Kishan Asawani, Dr. Vimal Sharma, Sohan Lal, Ajit Singh Khinchi, Ekta Nagda, S. D. Kaushal, Neelam Kaushik, Bhavya Arora, Diksha Nath Rathore, Kamlesh Kumawat, H. Qazi, Jignesh Sharma, and several other talented artists, making the World Music Day celebration a resounding success.
