Armed Forces Flag Day Celebrated in Udaipur

 Collector-SP Honored with Flag Stickers

*Udaipur:* The Armed Forces Flag Day, dedicated to the welfare of personnel from the Indian Armed Forces, was celebrated in Udaipur on Thursday. Colonel Kamalendra Singh Bhati, the District Soldier Welfare Officer, informed that on this occasion, District Collector Arvind Poswal and Superintendent of Police Bhuvan Bhushan were honored by affixing flag stickers. They actively participated in contributing to the Armed Forces Flag Day fund.

Colonel Bhati further explained that during the event, the District Collector and SP were adorned with flag stickers, symbolizing their support for the Armed Forces Flag Day fund. The Collector-SP duo also contributed to the fund, and Collector Arvind Poswal appealed to the general public to donate generously to this fund.

The program, held at the District Soldier Welfare Office premises in Madhuvan, was presided over by Wing Commander V. K. Thakur. The chief guest for the event was social worker Dharamchand Nagauri, the father of the late martyr Abhinav Nagauri.

Colonel Bhati emphasized the significance of celebrating Armed Forces Flag Day and highlighted the duty and dedication of citizens towards the armed forces. He urged citizens to contribute generously to the welfare of military personnel. Colonel Bhati encouraged local residents and businesses to visit the District Soldier Welfare Office at any time to make donations and receive a receipt.

During the program, the sacrifices of the district's martyred soldiers were honored, and the veeranganas (wives of martyred soldiers) and veer matas (mothers of martyred soldiers) were acknowledged by presenting them with shawls. The event saw the presence of local citizens, ex-servicemen, and the families of martyred soldiers.

Colonel Bhati highlighted that donations to the Armed Forces Flag Day fund are exempt from income tax under Section 80G(5)(vi) of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The celebration aimed to not only honor the armed forces but also raise awareness and funds for their welfare.
