Jaipur . Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani has adjourned the fifth session of the 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly indefinitely.
*24 Sittings in the Fifth Session - 184 Hours of House Proceedings*
Announcing the adjournment of the Assembly session sine die at 6:06 pm on Tuesday, March 10, Speaker Mr. Devnani stated that a total of 24 sittings of the House were held during this session, and by the time the proceedings concluded, detailed discussions and legislative work on various subjects had been conducted in the House for approximately 184 hours.
*Extensive Discussion on the Governor's Address*
Devnani stated that during the session, there was extensive discussion on the motion of thanks on the Governor's Address. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) participated in the discussion on this topic for 13 hours 14 minutes, the Indian National Congress for 10 hours 52 minutes, and other parties for 1 hour 37 minutes. Similarly, in the general debate on the Budget Estimates for the year 2026-27, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) participated for 9 hours 42 minutes, the Congress for 8 hours 19 minutes, and other parties for 1 hour 21 minutes. In the discussion on the demands for grants, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) participated for 36 hours 56 minutes, the Congress for 21 hours 26 minutes, and MLAs from other parties for 4 hours 25 minutes.
8919 Questions Received in the Fifth Session*
Devnani stated that the Assembly received a total of 8919 questions from MLAs in this session, including 4311 starred, 4603 unstarred, and 5 short notice questions. Of these, 440 starred questions were listed, of which 232 were asked orally and answered. Similarly, 451 unstarred questions were also listed.
Answers to 97% of questions received*
In the last four sessions of the 16th Legislative Assembly, answers to 22,074 of the 22,735 questions have been received from the state government. Devnani stated that the Assembly has received answers to approximately 97% of the questions from the state government. This is the result of his continuous review of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly and is a historic achievement for the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
371 Adjournment Motions and 339 Notices of Special Mentions*
Devnani stated that a total of 371 adjournment motions were received under Rule 50 of Procedure. Of these, 84 motions were given the opportunity to speak in the House, and 77 members expressed their views. Under Rule 295, 339 special mention notices were received, of which 309 were read or deemed to have been read in the House. A total of 850 notices were received under Calling Attention motions, of which 33 motions were listed on the House agenda.
1107 slips received from MLAs*
Devnani stated that during the fifth session of the 16th Legislative Assembly, 1107 slips were submitted by MLAs, of which 84 were selected by the ballot, and 71 members presented their views before the House.
10 Bills Passed in the Fifth Session*
Devnani stated that a total of 10 government bills were presented in this session under legislative work and passed by the House. A total of 171 amendment proposals were received on these bills, of which 17 amendments were rejected and 154 were accepted.
*Four-Day Discussion on Budget Estimates*
Speaker Devnani stated that the session included a four-day general discussion on the Budget Estimates for the year 2026-27, in which 84 MLAs participated. Eight days were set aside for discussion on 16 of the 64 departmental demands for grants. Notices of 3,935 cut motions were received on the demands for grants, of which 3,599 were presented in the House.
*226 Petitions Received*
Devnani stated that the Assembly received 226 petitions from MLAs, of which 52 were presented in the House. A total of 37 reports from various committees were also presented in the House.
*Gratitude Expressed to MLAs*
At the conclusion of the session, Speaker Devnani expressed gratitude to all MLAs for their cooperation in the smooth functioning of the House. He expressed special thanks to all the members of the Speaker's panel, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Julie, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, Government Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg, and Chief Whip of the Opposition Rafiq Khan.
