In an exceptional act of compassion, Dr. Kulwant Gaur covered a 320-kilometer journey from Kota in just 8 hours to fulfill the wishes of eye and organ donation. This remarkable initiative took place amidst the ongoing voting process in the state and marked the first instance of simultaneous eye and organ donation.
Upon receiving the news of the sudden demise of Jyoti-Mitra Suresh Adalkha's mother Rajrani, who had expressed her desire for eye and organ donation long ago, Dr. Gaur quickly cast his vote in Kota and embarked on a rapid 140-kilometer journey to reach Chhipabad.
The lifeless body was brought to the liberation ground with the melody of a band, where relatives performed the final rites. During the eye donation process, several respected citizens, commercial associates, and social workers were present, expressing support for the noble cause.
Following eye donation, the mortal remains were placed in an ambulance, decorated like a bride, and transported 90 kilometers from Chhipabad to Jhalawar Medical College. This journey aimed to facilitate the study by future medical practitioners.
Commending the organ donation family, Dr. Kulwant Gaur stated that undertaking such service tasks while enduring family opposition is a courageous step. This underscores the increasing awareness among people in rural environments, where misconceptions about eye and organ donation still exist.
Dr. Manoj Sharma, Senior Professor in the Anatomy Department at Jhalawar Medical College, initiated the organ donation process in the opposite circumstances by opening the medical college. With most staff on leave due to voting, the prompt acquisition and preservation of the body after organ donation were crucial.
Dr. Manoj informed that this is the sixth organ donation at Jhalawar Medical College, with four of them facilitated by the Shine India Foundation. This noble act was carried out by the organ donation family, consisting of both sons, daughters, grandchildren, and close relatives, along with the support of Nitin Kataria and Ajay Goyal from Shine India's Jhalawar branch.
Dr. Kulwant Gaur, who started his journey from Kota without eating, covered 320 kilometers in 8 hours, completing a poignant mission of eye and organ donation.
