Udaipur: The city’s premier music lovers’ organization, Suron Ki Mandali, celebrated the 97th birthday of eminent lyricist Santosh Anand in a heartfelt and unique manner on Thursday. The event was held at the MadhuShri Banquet Hall, Ashoka Palace, Shobhagpura, where members of the organization presented a series of timeless and evergreen songs penned by Santosh Anand, enthralling the audience throughout the evening.
Program Coordinator Ramesh Datwani shared that Santosh Anand was born on March 5, 1929. To honor the significance of the year ’29’, the members curated a special sequence of 29 selected songs written by him. The entire program was professionally recorded and will be digitally sent to Santosh Anand, allowing him to experience the love and respect of his Udaipur fans.
The musical evening featured iconic songs such as “Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai,” “Zindagi Ki Na Toote Ladi,” “Mohabbat Hai Kya Cheez,” “Megha Re Megha Re,” and “Ye Galiyan Ye Choubara,” leaving the audience mesmerized and swaying to the tunes. The distinguished guest for the evening was Jhumar Chakravarti.
Founder President Mukesh Madhwani emphasized that the organization’s primary goal is to bring the timeless works of legends like Santosh Anand to newer generations. He noted that the depth and philosophical insight in Anand’s lyrics are rare in contemporary music, and through such programs, the organization strives to keep the appreciation of meaningful and pure music alive in society.
Secretary Arun Chaubisa stated that the evening was not just a celebration, but a gesture of gratitude towards the pen that has comforted millions over decades. At the conclusion of the program, all members collectively wished Santosh Anand a healthy and long life.
Treasurer Yogesh Upadhyay remarked that the popularity of Santosh Anand’s songs remains undiminished. He praised the dedication and heartfelt rendition by the members, noting that such successful events generate positive energy within the organization, motivating them to conduct even more enriching cultural programs in the future.
