Ending Child Marriage is Our Collective Responsibility – MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat

Udaipur: As part of the nationwide Child Marriage-Free India Campaign, a 100-day special awareness drive is underway to prevent child marriages. Today, under the joint supervision of the District Administration, District Legal Services Authority, Gayatri Seva Sansthan, and Just Right for Children, a public awareness Rath (chariot) journey was flagged off by Udaipur Lok Sabha MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat.

MP Rawat inaugurated the Rath from his residence and emphasized that child marriage is not only a deeply harmful social practice but also a legal offense. “All those involved in child marriage are punishable under law. Therefore, no one should conduct, participate in, or support such acts. Every section of society must come forward, and through this 100-day special campaign run by the government, the public must be made aware to eliminate this social evil,” he said.

On the occasion, District Vice President of BJP and social worker Chandrashekhar Joshi praised the campaign and highlighted the importance of spreading awareness among rural populations, local representatives, and religious leaders.

Dr. Shailendra Pandya, former member of the Rajasthan State Child Commission and Director of Gayatri Seva Sansthan, stated that the Rath journey will travel across all rural areas of the district to raise awareness about child marriage. During the campaign, information is being provided about the harmful consequences of child marriage and legal provisions against it. Reports of child marriage can be made via Gayatri Seva Sansthan helpline 8239999288, Child Helpline 1098, or Police Helpline 112, with the identity of informants kept completely confidential.

The event was attended by Program Coordinator Nitin Paliwal, R. Kagg, and representatives of Gayatri Seva Sansthan.
