51 Couples to Begin a New Life: Two-Day Mass Wedding for Differently-Abled and Underprivileged Begins at Narayan Seva Sansthan

Udaipur: The two-day 45th free mass wedding ceremony for differently-abled and underprivileged couples began today at the Seva Mahatirth campus of Narayan Seva Sansthan in Badi, Udaipur. During the ceremony, 51 couples from various states across the country will tie the knot according to traditional Vedic rituals and begin a new chapter of their lives.

On the first day of the event, several religious and cultural programs are being organized following traditional customs. Many of the brides and grooms participating in the ceremony have earlier received free treatment, surgeries, artificial limbs, or assistive devices from the institution.

Prashant Agarwal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan, said that on the second day of the ceremony all couples will take the seven sacred vows (Saat Phere) around the holy fire while Vedic mantras are chanted, formally entering married life. The newly married couples will also be gifted essential household items to help them start their family life. Guests, social workers, and donors from different parts of the country are attending the two-day event.

A Story of Struggle and Hope

Among the couples is Madhu Bhoi and Santosh Kumar Lodha, whose story reflects determination and hope.

Madhu Bhoi, a resident of Shastri Nagar–Khempura in Udaipur, is physically disabled in her left leg, but her determination remains strong. She works at a beauty parlour in the city and leads a self-reliant life. Her family includes her mother Prem Bai, one brother, and four sisters. Her father Kanhaiya Lal has passed away. Despite limited resources and financial challenges, Madhu never gave up and continued supporting her family.

Similarly, Santosh Kumar Lodha, a resident of Naulana village in Indore district, Madhya Pradesh, has also overcome significant challenges in life. At the age of six months, he suffered from paralysis. However, his parents Ramesh Chandra and Bhagu Bai supported him through every difficulty and ensured he remained connected with education. Today, Santosh works as a school teacher and leads a dignified life.

Due to their physical disabilities and financial constraints, their marriage could not take place for a long time. The two eventually met during a program, where they connected through their shared experiences of struggle and determination. As their conversations grew, they decided to become life partners.

Now, along with 49 other couples, Madhu and Santosh are set to begin a new journey of life through the mass wedding ceremony organized by Narayan Seva Sansthan. The event is not just a wedding ceremony but a celebration of dreams coming true, where 51 new families are being formed with hope, resilience, and mutual support.
