De-worming of Livestock Essential During Summer: Experts

Udaipur: De-worming of livestock during the summer season is extremely essential, as administering anti-parasitic medication is highly beneficial. This information was shared by Dr. Dwarika Prasad Gupta, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Training Institute.

Dr. Gupta explained that with the rise in environmental temperature, water in small ponds, reservoirs, and streams begins to evaporate. As a result, the concentration of parasites in the remaining water increases. When animals consume such contaminated water, parasites enter their bodies, leading to a decline in immunity and a significant drop in productivity.

He further stated that during the onset of such conditions, livestock should be given de-worming medication to ensure their protection. With proper animal husbandry practices and feed management under adverse conditions, livestock productivity can be maintained and animals can be safeguarded from losses.

Other officials from the institute, including Dr. Padma Meel, Dr. Om Prakash Sahu, and Dr. Mamta Soni, also shared their views on the subject.
