Make Water Conservation a Mass Movement to Secure the Future of Coming Generations – Babulal Kharadi

Udaipur: On the initiative of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the statewide public awareness mega campaign Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan 2026 aimed at water conservation and environmental protection was grandly launched on Monday.

In Udaipur, the district-level program was organized at Doodh Talai in the presence of Tribal Area Development Minister Babulal Kharadi, Secretary-in-Charge T. Ravikant, and District Collector Gaurav Agrawal. A Prabhat Pheri and Kalash Yatra accompanied by traditional music and bands were organized, while water and Peepal tree worship was performed along the lakeside to spread the message of environmental conservation.

Tree Plantation Spread the Message of Greenery

The program began with a plantation drive. At the Forest Department nursery located at Doodh Talai, Minister Kharadi, Secretary T. Ravikant, Collector Gaurav Agrawal, social workers Pramod Samar, Gajpal Singh, and Pushkar Teli, along with public representatives and officials, planted saplings. During the event, people were encouraged to plant more trees for environmental protection and water conservation.

The guests stated that forests and water are complementary to each other and emphasized that every individual should contribute towards protecting nature.

Prabhat Pheri and Kalash Yatra Held with Traditional Fervor

As part of the campaign, a Prabhat Pheri and Kalash Yatra commenced from near the temple at Doodh Talai. Women and young girls dressed in traditional attire carried kalash on their heads to spread awareness about water conservation. Volunteers from organizations like Scouts and Guides and National Service Scheme participated carrying banners and placards promoting water conservation.

The Kalash Yatra, resonating with drumbeats and slogans on water conservation, witnessed participation from Minister Kharadi and other dignitaries.

Water and Peepal Worship Performed at the Lakeside

At a special lakeside ceremony, Minister Kharadi and other guests performed ritual worship of water and the Peepal tree with Vedic chanting. On this occasion, a pledge was taken to maintain cleanliness and conserve water sources.

The guests highlighted that water and trees hold immense importance in Indian culture and that environmental balance can only be maintained through their protection.

Pledge for Water and Environmental Conservation

During the stage program, Minister Kharadi administered a pledge to the gathering for water and environmental conservation. Participants resolved to save water, keep water sources clean, and undertake extensive plantation drives.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Kharadi said that water is the foundation of life and that the future cannot be secure without conserving it. He emphasized that the campaign is not merely a government initiative but a people’s movement driven by public participation. He urged citizens to actively contribute to rainwater harvesting, tree plantation, and protection of water resources.

Secretary-in-Charge T. Ravikant said that water conservation is the greatest necessity of the present time. Stressing the need to turn the campaign into a mass movement, he stated that sustainable results can only be achieved through joint efforts of the administration and the public.

District Collector Gaurav Agrawal informed that extensive awareness activities would be conducted across the district under the campaign. He appealed to all departments, NGOs, and youth to actively participate.

The dignitaries also inaugurated and visited the Rajeevika stall set up at the venue.
