Udaipur: On Friday, MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat visited Khelgaon to review the sports facilities and infrastructure. He expressed concern over the poor condition of the proposed international cricket ground. He emphasized that the ground could be revitalized using the budget allocated under the Khelo India scheme and directed that proposals be prepared for the same.
During the visit, Dr. Rawat inspected the under-construction multipurpose stadium and asked that new plans for the remaining work be prepared and approval proposals be sent to the state and central government under schemes like Khelo India. While inspecting the cricket stadium, he noted that the construction done so far is now in a dilapidated state. Expressing concern, he said that the money already spent could be wasted unless urgent efforts are made to restore the facility. He assured that any assistance required from the state or central level would be provided.
Following the cricket stadium inspection, he held a meeting with UDA Executive Engineers Hitesh Sukhwal, Neeraj Mathur, and Rajeev Gupta, instructing them to prepare proposals and cost estimates. He also inspected the newly constructed athletics track and lacrosse field, discussing with District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal about their early inauguration.
Dr. Paliwal briefed the MP on all sports being conducted at Khelgaon and informed him about players representing the state and national levels from Khelgaon training centers. UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain was also present during the visit. Dr. Rawat reviewed the indoor stadium in detail and gave instructions to complete the remaining work. He also interacted with basketball and volleyball players participating in the state-level Civil Services Competition.
