French Artist Immersed in Mewar’s Culture; Aina Laure Poullain Performs Dasha Mata Puja in Udaipur

Udaipur: The rich folk culture and traditions of Rajasthan continue to captivate artists from across the globe. In this context, renowned French artist Aina Laure Poullain participated in the Dasha Mata Puja in Udaipur’s Harsh Nagar on Friday, celebrating the ritual with traditional devotion and enthusiasm.

Aina Laure, accompanied by Vijaylakshmi Ameta, director of the Heritage Folk Dance and Puppet Show, visited the temple near Ameta’s residence. Demonstrating her deep interest in Indian culture, Aina rose early at 5 a.m., dressed in traditional attire, and performed the puja rituals. Holding a ceremonial plate in her hands, she circled the sacred Peepal tree, listened to the story of Dasha Mata, and prayed for her family’s prosperity, well-being, and happiness.

Showing Devotion During Sheetla Saptami

Keen to understand Indian festivals firsthand, Aina had previously participated in Sheetla Saptami celebrations. She not only learned the detailed rituals of the festival but also gained insight into the significance of the traditional cold meal (Basyoṛa) consumed on this day and the beliefs associated with it.

Vijaylakshmi Ameta remarked that the dedication shown by foreign artists toward Indian culture and rituals reflects that Mewar’s heritage is leaving a lasting global impression. Aina Laure’s traditional appearance and active participation in local customs became a topic of discussion and admiration in the region.
