A free de-addiction camp for tobacco and alcohol users, which began on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, has so far provided free medication to 35 individuals struggling with addiction, including three women.
Dr. P. C. Jain, who has been involved in de-addiction campaigns for the past three decades, personally examined all participants. During the assessment, he checked how wide the patients could open their mouths and evaluated the damage caused by gutka and tobacco on both sides and the upper part of the mouth. This condition was shown to the accompanying family members, and photographs were taken and shared with the patients themselves to help them understand the extent of harm and motivate them to quit.
After the examination, Dr. Jain provided free medicines to help them quit tobacco and also suggested home remedies. Similarly, three self-motivated individuals suffering from alcohol addiction were also examined and given free medication.
Strict confidentiality of all participants was maintained throughout the program.
The duration of the camp has now been extended until May 31. Prior registration is mandatory during this period.
