District Administration Reviews Monsoon Preparedness, Takes Strict Measures on Waterlogging and Disaster Management

Udaipur: To effectively tackle potential situations of heavy rainfall and flooding during the upcoming monsoon season, a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority was held on Monday at the Collectorate Mini Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Gaurav Agrawal. During the meeting, the preparedness measures undertaken by various departments ahead of the monsoon were reviewed in detail, and necessary directions were issued.

The District Collector sought information regarding the corrective measures carried out in areas that experienced waterlogging during last year's monsoon. He emphasized that citizens should not face any inconvenience this year under any circumstances. Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow progress of work at certain locations, he directed officials to complete all precautionary measures at the earliest.

He instructed concerned departments to ensure the prompt cleaning of water flow channels, drains, feeder channels, and drainage systems so that rainwater can flow smoothly without obstruction. The meeting also focused on preparedness for potential flood and heavy rainfall situations, with directions issued to all departments to remain fully equipped for relief and rescue operations.

The Collector stressed the need to ensure the availability of boats, pump sets, ropes, tractor-trolleys, rescue equipment, and trained personnel. He also directed that control rooms at the district and sub-divisional levels remain operational and that inter-departmental coordination be strengthened.

The Medical and Health Department was instructed to ensure the availability of essential medicines, mobile medical teams, and adequate arrangements for preventing waterborne diseases. The Public Health Engineering Department was directed to ensure the supply of safe drinking water and pay special attention to the chlorination of drinking water sources.

The Municipal Corporation and local bodies were instructed to carry out drain cleaning, road repairs, and continuous monitoring of waterlogging-prone areas.

The meeting also reviewed the pre-monsoon guidelines issued by the State Government and department-wise action plans. The District Collector directed all departments to keep their disaster management contingency plans updated and to ensure swift action in any emergency situation.

Among those present at the meeting were Municipal Commissioner Abhishek Khanna, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Dipendra Singh Rathore, Additional District Magistrate (City) Jitendra Ojha, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Virmaram, Girwa Sub-Divisional Magistrate Avula Sai Krishna, along with officials from various departments.
