Udaipur: An awareness program was organized on Thursday at the Government Livestock Training Institute on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour.
Deputy Director of the Government Livestock Training Institute, Dr. Dwarka Prasad Gupta, stated that child labour is a serious social issue. When children are engaged in work during their school-going years, both their childhood and education suffer. He emphasized that every child has the right to receive an education, participate in sports and recreational activities, and pursue their dreams.
Dr. Gupta further highlighted that animal husbandry is an important source of employment and income in rural areas. Activities such as cattle, buffalo, goat, sheep, and poultry farming contribute significantly to family income, enabling parents to invest more effectively in their children's education. He noted that the government and various institutions are promoting animal husbandry by providing training, financial assistance, loans, and other support services. These initiatives are helping rural families become self-reliant and ensuring a better future for their children.
During the program, Diploma Examination Supervisor and Senior Veterinary Officer Dr. Mukesh Nagauri administered a pledge against child labour to the students and provided information about various departmental schemes and welfare programs.
On the occasion, institute staff members Vijay Garasia, Vinod Kumar, and Dharmendra Rawat, along with students Vijay Khatik, Kishan Bairwa, and Nikhil Meghwal, also shared their views on the issue. The students pledged to promote awareness in their respective regions and work towards establishing child labour-free villages through community participation and public outreach.
The program concluded with a collective commitment to protect children's rights and ensure access to education, thereby contributing to the creation of a child labour-free society.
