Sukhadia University Moves Towards “No-Delay Session” Under Major Academic Reforms

Udaipur: In a significant step towards academic restructuring and student welfare, Mohanlal Sukhadia University Vice Chancellor Prof. B.P. Saraswat announced a series of major reforms aimed at restoring the university’s academic calendar, ensuring timely examinations, accelerating results, and improving research administration.

Addressing recent developments, Prof. Saraswat said the university has already initiated the admission process for the upcoming academic session from April 11, much earlier than previous years. Admissions will continue till May 30, while the complete process will be finalized before mid-August. Most importantly, the new academic session will commence from July 1, ensuring that students no longer suffer because of delayed sessions.

The Vice Chancellor explained that delays in recent years emerged after the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) and the semester-based system. However, the university administration has now undertaken a mission-mode effort to bridge the gap created during the transition period. Faculty members have also been requested to cooperate during summer vacations so that pending coursework can be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Calling it one of the university’s biggest academic reforms in recent years, Prof. Saraswat revealed that examinations for second, fourth, and sixth semester students will begin by the end of May, while results are expected to be declared by the last week of June. This move is expected to benefit thousands of students seeking admissions in higher institutions or applying for jobs at the national level, where delays in university results often become a major obstacle.

Prof. Saraswat emphasized that the university is committed to completely eliminating the long-standing issue of delayed sessions. According to him, all efforts are being made to ensure that classes, examinations, and results return to a regular and timely schedule from this academic year onward.

The Vice Chancellor also spoke in detail about reforms in PhD admissions. He confirmed that fresh notifications for PhD admissions have been released and admissions will now strictly follow UGC norms. Selection will primarily be based on NET scores and merit, while reservation policies will also be implemented accordingly. He added that course work for previously admitted PhD scholars is almost complete and examinations will soon be conducted so that research guides can be allotted by June and July, allowing scholars to begin their research work without unnecessary delays.

On the administrative front, Prof. Saraswat highlighted serious concerns regarding pension issues affecting universities across Rajasthan. He stated that uncertainty surrounding pensions could discourage talented academicians from joining university services in the future. During discussions with senior state officials, the university also raised demands regarding recruitment permissions, vacant faculty posts, and pending promotions under career advancement schemes. The administration has reportedly received positive assurances from the government on these issues.

The Vice Chancellor further mentioned that discussions are ongoing regarding university land matters and infrastructure-related proposals connected to financial strengthening and long-term institutional development. He appreciated the support and dedication of university officials, including the Registrar, Finance Officer, Controller of Examinations, Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments, for helping implement reforms at a rapid pace.

, Prof. Saraswat reiterated that students remain the university’s highest priority. He said the institution exists for its students, and every reform being introduced is aimed at protecting their academic future and career opportunities.
