Udaipur: Kanhaiya Lal, a 77-year-old man from Udaipur, had been experiencing significant breathing difficulties for several months. His condition had deteriorated to the point where he could hardly lie down. He also had swelling in his legs. Despite being a cancer patient, he sought treatment at various hospitals but found no relief. Subsequently, he was brought to Paras Health Udaipur, where Dr. Amit Khandelwal, Director and Head of the Department of Cardiology, along with Dr. Hitesh Yadav, Dr. Subhash, Dr. Nitin Kaushik, and Dr. Jaysh Khandelwal, successfully treated him using the TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) procedure, giving him a new lease on life.
Dr. Amit Khandelwal explained that the patient's condition was extremely critical when he was brought to them. After conducting several tests and assessments, they decided to open the valve through the TAVI procedure. His blood pressure was 80/80, and his condition was deteriorating. The TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) procedure was performed, ensuring the patient's well-being.
TAVI is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative treatment to open heart surgery. Compared to open heart surgery, TAVI involves less risk and offers a more durable valve replacement. TAVI is considered a straightforward method for the treatment of severe aortic valve stenosis, a condition where the aortic valve narrows and makes it difficult for the heart to pump blood efficiently. This condition affects a person's overall health.
Dr. Abel George, Facility Director of Paras Health, Udaipur, stated that the doctors successfully performed this surgery, giving the patient a new lease on life. The TAVI procedure is a more expensive treatment option compared to open heart surgery, but this technique is proving to be a boon for elderly patients and those who are not surgical candidates due to medical reasons or higher surgical risks.
After recovering, the patient expressed his gratitude to the doctors and Paras Health for providing him with a successful treatment. He mentioned that he had never hoped to get better but Paras Health Udaipur's specialists demonstrated that even the most challenging conditions can be treated effectively by experienced specialists in a high-end hospital. He conveyed his heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.
