Self-Enumeration Phase Begins Under Census 2027

Sri Ganganagar: The self-enumeration phase under Census 2027 began in the district on Friday. Marking the beginning of the campaign, Principal Census Officer and District Collector Dr. Amit Yadav completed his self-enumeration online. Citizens can also fill in their details independently through the designated web portal. District Council CEO Mr. Girdhar and other officials also completed their self-enumeration online.

District Collector Dr. Amit Yadav stated that, as per the directions of the Government of India, the first phase of Census 2027—house listing and housing census—will be conducted from May 1 to June 15, 2026. This time, a digital initiative in the form of “self-enumeration” has been introduced, allowing citizens to submit their census details online.

He further informed that the self-enumeration portal will be available to the public from May 1 to May 15, 2026. The district administration has launched a special awareness campaign to promote this digital facility and ensure maximum public participation. The District Collector appealed to citizens to actively participate in this important national exercise and make full use of the self-enumeration facility to help make Census 2027 a success.

Under the first phase of Census 2027—house listing and housing census—citizens have been provided the facility of self-enumeration. Through this process, residents can enter details related to their families on the official online portal (https://se.census.gov.in). This portal will remain active from May 1 to May 15, 2026, which is 15 days prior to the door-to-door survey by enumerators. The entire process takes approximately 15–20 minutes, and upon successful submission, an 11-digit unique Self-Enumeration (SE) ID starting with the letter “H” is generated.

To complete self-enumeration, citizens need to log in to the portal by selecting their state and entering a captcha. They must then provide the head of the family’s name, a mobile number (one per family), and an optional email ID. After selecting the preferred language, OTP verification is required.

In the next steps, citizens must enter details of their residence and mark the exact location of their house on a digital map. After filling out the prescribed questionnaire, they can review the information using the “Preview” option. Once “Confirm and Submit” is selected, the data will be locked.

It is mandatory to securely keep the SE ID received after final submission, which can also be obtained via SMS or email. When the census enumerator visits the household, citizens must present this SE ID for verification. If the SE ID does not match, the enumerator will collect the information again. It is essential to submit the details before the deadline; otherwise, the self-enumeration will not be considered complete.
