Water Resources Department Shares Details of Gang Canal Centenary Celebrations

Sri Ganganagar: As part of the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign and the Gang Canal Centenary Celebrations, the Education Department organized painting, essay writing, and slogan-writing competitions on Thursday at the Hall of Hindustan Scouts and Guides Rajasthan State. Students from various schools across the district enthusiastically participated, expressing the importance of water conservation, environmental protection, and the historical significance of the Gang Canal through their creative works.

During the competitions, students conveyed powerful messages on water conservation through attractive paintings, impactful slogans, and thought-provoking essays. Participants described the Gang Canal as the lifeline of the region and emphasized the need for its preservation as well as the judicious use of water resources.

In the painting competition, students creatively depicted the value of every drop of water, rainwater harvesting, clean rivers, and a green environment through vibrant artwork. The slogan-writing competition featured messages such as “Save Water, Secure the Future” and “Water Today, Life Tomorrow,” encouraging the public to adopt water-saving practices.

In the essay competition, participants highlighted the history of the Gang Canal, its contribution to the region’s agricultural and economic prosperity, and the critical importance of water conservation for future generations.

On the occasion, Education Department officials stated that the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign is not merely a program but a comprehensive public awareness movement. They emphasized that the active participation of students would help spread the message of water conservation to every section of society. They further noted that if the younger generation commits to conserving water, a secure water future can be ensured for generations to come.

Assistant Engineer (AEN) Mrs. Arzoo from the Water Resources Department informed that a series of events will be organized under the Gang Canal Centenary Celebrations, including seminars, street plays, and cultural performances at Agricultural Produce Market Committees. Various competitions based on the centenary theme, such as essay writing, poetry, and slogan contests, will also be conducted in schools across the district.

Additionally, related departments will organize monthly activities including runs, cycling rallies, marathons, plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, blood donation camps, and other awareness programs. The Agriculture and Horticulture Departments will also conduct fairs, exhibitions, seminars, and farmer interaction programs to encourage public participation.

Participants who demonstrate outstanding performance in the competitions will be honored during upcoming centenary celebration events.

The program witnessed the participation of teachers, departmental officials, and a large number of students. Among those present were ADEO Ashok Wadhwa, Jai Dev Bhunwal, Mrs. Paramjeet Kaur, Scout Officer Sandeep Manjhu, Mrs. Meenu Rani, and other dignitaries.

It is noteworthy that various awareness programs are being organized throughout the district under the Gang Canal Centenary Celebrations and the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign. These initiatives aim to transform water conservation into a mass movement while connecting the younger generation with the rich historical legacy of the Gang Canal.
