A book of Prof. Hemendra Chandalia’s Hindi Poems translated into Marathi

“Wheelchair var Lokshahi” , a book of Prof. Hemendra Chandalia’s Hindi Poems translated into Marathi was released on 24th July at the inaugural function of a national seminar on “Samkaleen Sahitya : Naye Sandarbh” organized by the K.J. Somaiya School of Language and Literature , Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Ghatkopar, Mumbai. Prof. Chandalia is a retired Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Udaipur. His poems have been translated by Dr. Bala Saheb Labade, a well known poet, novelist, film lyricist, writer and translator and also a professor of Marathi Literature. The two-day event was inaugurated by the hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Ajay Kapur. In his address he talked about the increasing role of language and literature in the world. He maintained that translation brings together people of different cultures. The chief guest of the programmed well known novelist and story writer Dr.Suryabala said that emotions and sensitivity distinguish a writer from the rest of the society. She said that translation is no less a creative work. Dean of the School of Language and Literature Dr. Veena Sanekar presented the base paper of the seminar and introduced the guests to the audience. Other books launched in the seminar include Pratibha Saraph’s book “ Dastakhat Ki Muhar” translated by Gaurav Thorat, two books written by Dr. Bala Sahab Labade titled “ Chimbore Yuddh” and “Mumbai, Bambayi, Bombay” translated by Bharat Vede,, DEva Jhinjhad’s book “ Ek Roti , Teen Chulhe” translated by Gaurav Thorat, Well known author and critic Narendra Pundareek, Banda, UP, Arun Singh, Lucknow, Manoj Pathak, Dr.Surya bala, Dr. Baliram Gayakwad, and Dr. veena Sonekar presented a critical discussion on the books released. Dr.Anand Bodhale offered the vote of thanks. The programmed by skillfully convened by the students of the School of Language and Literature. Dr. Hemendra Chandalia recited three of his poems from the book of poems in Hindi.
