Liquor Shops to Remain Closed Indefinitely in Jaipur from Monday Over Alleged Police Harassment

Kota | Under the banner of the Raj Liquor Welfare Society, liquor traders have announced an indefinite closure of liquor shops in Jaipur starting Monday, protesting alleged police harassment and demanding an extension of shop operating hours.
Association President Nilesh Mewara informed Digital Bhaskar that all liquor shops in Jaipur city will remain closed indefinitely until their demands are addressed. He stated that on Monday morning, all liquor contractors will carry the keys of their shops and assemble at the Excise Department office, where they will submit a memorandum addressed to the Excise Commissioner through the District Excise Officer (DEO).
The association said it will decide its next course of action based on the response of the Excise Department.
There are approximately 350 liquor shops in Jaipur city, all of which will remain closed indefinitely as part of the protest.
Vinod Pareta, leader of the Kota Liquor Contractors’ Union, also confirmed that the decision to shut down liquor shops indefinitely has been taken in Jaipur. He further warned that if the demands are not met even after the Jaipur shutdown, the next step would be to close liquor shops across the entire state of Rajasthan indefinitely.
