Hindustan Zinc Holds General Meeting for Farmer Producer Organizations under the Samadhan Project

Hindustan Zinc Limited, in collaboration with the BILSDA (Bifid Institute of Sustainable Livelihoods and Development), has initiated the Samadhan project to enhance farmers' incomes across six districts in Rajasthan. This initiative has led to the establishment of five Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), reaching over 6,400 shareholders during the fiscal year 2023-2024.

Annual general meetings were conducted at various locations for these farmer producer organizations, where shareholders and board members gathered to review the past year's activities and outline future development strategies. The five FPOs include:

1. **Tambavati Nagri Farmer Producer Company** in Bhilwara, with 1,295 shareholders, ₹16.55 lakh in share capital, and a sales turnover of ₹71.39 lakh.
2. **Jai Chittor Farmer Producer Company** in Chittorgarh, with 1,408 shareholders, ₹21.08 lakh in share capital, and a sales turnover of ₹1.53 crore.
3. **Rajpura Dariba Farmer Producer Company** in Rajsamand, with 1,501 shareholders, ₹15.01 lakh in share capital, and a sales turnover of ₹61.04 lakh.
4. **Ghatavali Mataji Farmer Producer Company** in Udaipur, with 961 shareholders, ₹13.42 lakh in share capital, and a sales turnover of ₹1.86 crore.
5. **Jawarmata Farmer Producer Company**, also in Udaipur, with 1,240 shareholders, ₹6.90 lakh in share capital, and a sales turnover of ₹20.08 lakh.

The event held in Jawar was graced by chief guest Additional District Collector Rajlakshmi, along with Dr. Sudhir Kumar Verma, Joint Director of Agriculture, and Dr. Kailash Sharma, Deputy Director of Horticulture. Other notable attendees included the BDO, area managers from the National Seed Corporation, IFFCO, nodal officers for agriculture and animal husbandry, CSR heads from the Vedanta Group, and representatives from the BAIF Udaipur team and Hindustan Zinc CSR team.

The FPOs reported a remarkable business turnover of ₹4.92 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24, indicating significant growth compared to the previous year. Members discussed strategies for revenue generation and upcoming business plans, focusing on permanently enhancing farmers' incomes, improving their capabilities, promoting better agricultural practices, and initiating collective purchasing for output marketing.

In Udaipur's Debari, the Ghatavali Mataji Farmer Producer Company has successfully operated a dairy micro-enterprise, generating a turnover of ₹1.03 crore during the fiscal year 2023-2024 by collecting shareholders and processing clean milk within two years of operation.

In Chittorgarh's Chanderia, the Jai Chittor Farmer Producer Company Limited has established a mineral mixture micro-enterprise that has become self-sufficient, managing its technical and managerial costs while producing mineral mixtures for animal feed supplements, achieving a turnover of ₹89.21 lakh in fiscal year 2023-2024.

The FPOs are working to increase farmers' incomes by reducing production costs, promoting sustainable farming, and improving product quality through input availability. The Samadhan project is an integrated sustainable livelihood initiative that combines a multi-sectoral approach to create livelihoods, aiming to improve the conditions of farming communities in parts of southern Rajasthan through agricultural and livestock interventions via Farmer Producer Organizations.
