Bundi, Shine India Foundation, the only organization in the region dedicated to promoting eye donation, organ donation, and body donation for the past 13 years, is celebrating the 39th National Eye Donation Fortnight across the region.
The foundation is conducting various awareness activities in the city, including workshops, rallies, competitions, and radio discussions. The primary goal of this National Eye Donation Fortnight is to increase public awareness about eye donation, dispel myths associated with it, and ultimately eliminate corneal blindness in India by boosting the number of eye donations.
To further this message, Mr. Akshay Godara, District Collector of Bundi, unveiled an eye donation awareness poster prepared by Shine India Foundation and EBSR-BBJ Chapter today. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Dr. Kulwant Gaud, founder of Shine India, and Jyoti-Mitra Idris Bohra from Bundi city.
Supporting the cause and praising the foundation’s efforts, the District Collector remarked that if eye donation becomes a family tradition, it could help eradicate corneal blindness not only in India but across other countries as well. He emphasized that if our eyes can enable others to see after our demise, there is no greater noble act. Eye and organ donation are essential for the future.
Dr. Kulwant Gaud, President of the BBJ Chapter of the Eye Bank Society of Rajasthan, stated that during the fortnight, eye donation awareness programs are being organized in Bundi, Baran, and Jhalawar with the cooperation of all administrative officials. Currently, the foundation operates around a 200-kilometer radius from Kota, working tirelessly around the clock to promote eye donation.
Jyoti-Mitra Idris Bohra reported that to date, the foundation has facilitated eye donations from 43 deceased individuals in Bundi district.
